Protect me but don’t take advantage of me! Guardianship Fraud – Who is at risk and what to do about it.

There are millions of vulnerable individuals who are unable to care for themselves due to advance memory losses, severe mental illness, intellectual disabilities and even as the result of an accident. There are legal processes that can be initiated to assist an individual with financial, personal and health matters. But legal guardianships/conservatorships are not always what they seem to be. Clerk Sharon Bock, attorney and Clerk and Comptroller of Palm Beach County Florida and Anthony Palmieri, attorney and the Deputy Clerk and Senior Auditor at the Clerk and Comptroller of Palm Beach County identify the situations in which one needs protection and share the warning signs of financial fraud. They offer sound advice on how to avoid and/or intervene when abuse is suspected.

This week’s Resource Report features the Brainy Day Activity Program that offers caregivers a roadmap to facilitate a range of activities with their loved one who lives at home or who lives in a residence.
